U.S. Army Photographic Laboratory\" stamp on the reverse and the \"Signal Corps U.S.A.\" mark at the lower left of the photograph. The reverse is inscribed, in period ink, \"U.S.S. Nansemond at dock in St. Nazaire April 7th 1918\". The image shows the USS Nansemond at the US Dock getting ready to transport the Troops Home. The ship was used by the Army in 1917 and 1918 as a Temporary Auxiliary Ship for the Army Cargo and Transport Service.
