Rare, Original WWI Canadian Uniform collection: Tunic, Two Patches, Breeches, and Handwritten Letter.

\"Canadian pattern\" 7 Button Tunic. Included in the pocket are a Sergeant and a Corporal patch (one of each).

The tunic has all the buttons and the leather flap to protect the neck from the clasps on the collar. Some moth holes on the side near hip.

Breeches also included with some moth holes. Missing a button at the back. The pants are un-hemmed and appear to have just been cut off at the appropriate length. The pants are 5ft11-6ft W 37

In the front pocket of the tunic is a letter written June 9, 1916 from France. After some Internet investigating I have determined the letter to have been written by Edward Gibbs to (I assume) his brother Joseph Gibbs. Edward Gibbs was in the 53 Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force and originally from England. His Regimental number (according to the letter) is 440344. According to the records he was 5\'10- maybe that\'s why the pants are cut off at the bottom. *I have included screen shots of the Internet findings, these copies are NOT included in this listing.

According to my mother, this uniform was found in a closet in a house in Glendale, California in the late 1960\'s. My grandparents bought the house and found the uniform and kept it. My Grandparents were originally from Canada and my Grandfather and Great-Grandfather both were in the Canadian Military. I assume that is why they kept this uniform. I have no idea if the uniform was actually found in a house in Glendale but that is the story.
