You are offerding on a cel featuring M.C. Bird created by Ward Kimball for the 1969 Educational Short discussing the evolution and history of birds and the legends about them. In part, this was a advertisement (or a conservation movie) for the National Audubon Society. It was mostly animated, but it also included some live footage. This Short Subject Cartoon\'s narrator was the rather disreputable-looking red bird, named M.C. Bird, who sings the song \"It\'s Tough To Be A Bird\". M.C. Bird explains how birds have contributed to the human culture, even as people often try to kill them. He claims this may be because humans were jealous that birds could fly, but humans could not.
The visible image of M.C. Bird is approximately 3\" x 3\" on a rectangular cel with the size of 10\" x 12 1/2\". It is sandwiched between two mat boards sized 11\" x 14\" The top blue mat board has an oval opening of 9 1/2\" x 7 1/2\". Printed on the left side of the actual cel material, but below the top blue oval mat board and therefore not visible on this matted piece, are the numbers \"#961\". We purchased this animated cel at a Disneyana Show and Sale in the 1980\'s and have no idea what this number represents. The yellow beak of M.C. Bird does show some paint cracking. There are also a few flecks of black paint that are missing on his legs. The cel material does show some warping due to age. We have owned this cel for 35 years and we will admit that it is not a perfect cel.
