Practical Teneriffe Lace (2nd Series)
15 Pages. Teneriffe lace is a very beautiful technique that is similar to drawn work, but it is worked in a different and simpler manner. There are no woven strands to be cut an counted, and the entire work is made on a simple frame and then sewn into your finished work. The most important part of this work is the frame - usually constructed of wood, with brass tacks or small nails set about 1/16 of an inch apart. The lace is then woven upon these tacks in beautiful designs and shapes. This is very lovely work and a very early form of lace making. The book contains several different ideas of frame shapes including ovals, fans, butterfly and corners. In addition to this there are instructions that range from the simplest lace weaving to elaborate designs such as pyramids, butterfly and even a coronation lace including a crown.
