A fabulous antique Japanese Sumida Gawa teapot, circa 1900.

This lovely half-moon shaped teapot is decorated with applied figures. On one side a man tends to some animals and on the reverse two men discuss a treasure. The lid finial is a sitting man. The teapot is wonderfully colored with a red base and a highly glazed top colored with a mixture of blues, purples, greens and browns. The teapot is signed on a plaque by the handle.

The teapot measures approximately 6 3/4 inches across and about 5 inches high.

The teapot is in general excellent condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. One or two areas of the red base have been touched up, otherwise no other issues.
