Fantastic old Bird Man figure from the Ramu River region of Papua New Guinea. This wonderful carving stands 17\" tall and 2\" wide. There may be an old primitive repair at the waist of figure as a nail driven into wood and clay molded around waist to possibly fill in a crack or break? Also the very bottom of base has a small protrusion with possible loss? The figure does not stand up and would need a custom mounting base. This is from the estate of a Southern California world traveler who was active since the 1940s and passed away in the 1990s and has been in storage since. Fresh to market.
