Genuine, authentic, original hand signedBattle of Britain commemorative coverof Luftwaffe Ace Major Erich Rudorffer.
Rudorffer was a highly decorated German Air Force Fighting Ace andsquadron commander during WW2.
Rudorffer was best known in WW2 as a Fighting Ace, and Commander of the Jagdgeschwader 54, with 222 aerial victories to his credit on the Eastern and WesternFront in more than one thousand combat missions, placing him 7th highest German Fighting Flying Ace in WW2!
Because of his combat skills, he was awarded the Luftwaffe Front Flying Clasp in Gold, and because of his military skills, the German Cross in Gold. He also received the Luftwaffe Front Flying Clasp in Gold with 1000 pennant.
And because of his extreme personal bravery and military leadership in combat, Rudorffer was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oakleaves and Swords...one of only 190 soldiers to receive this high honor during the War! He was also mentioned one time in the Wehrmachtbericht...to be mentioned one time was a high honor!
The 7.5 x 4.5 inch full color printed commemorative Battle of Britain 40th Anniversary cover shows several RAF fighter aircraft and Rudorffer has signed his name on the cover in black fountain pen ink, postwar. The cover is in very good/fine condition. Along with a blue printed historical account of the Royal Air Force Coltishall card. Along with modern unsigned print of Rudorffer as shown in the scan.
