VINTAGE WWII ARMY DRESS UNIFORM HAT

Wonderful vintage authentic US WWII Army officer\'s crusher style visor white cotton dress hat measuring about size 7-1/2. Featuring a black wool covered visor accented with gold metallic oak leaves and patent leather edge trim, hat has a gold band held in place with small eagle crest buttons. A large, open winged eagle with crest on chest, clutching an olive sprig and arrows in his talon claws, with banner marked E PLURIBUS UNUM trailing from his beak and a stylized star studded sun finishes the crest - held in place with a screw back button - there is also an unused separate maroon, gold and white ribbon band. Interior has a vented leather sweat band and card slot - although the card is no longer present, this was owned by Colonel Herbert G. Tearse, MC, United States Army.

Condition is very nice with no tears, holes, discoloration, fading, or wear - there is one pinhead size hole on the cap side - difficult to see and does not detract. Complete with the Army issued elastic rain hat / visor cover and box marked ACE. Just a wonderful authentic WWII military uniform hat - nice addition to any collection or display!
