This is a very large 72 mm (2 7/8 inch) in diameter, 203-gram (7.1ounce) 1899 French Silver Art Nouveau issued by the National Assembly Honoring Émile FrançoisLoubet (1838 – 1929) on hisinauguration as the 8th President of France. As President (1899–1906), his term of office saw the successful Paris Exhibition of 1900, and the forging of the Ententewith Great Britain,resolving their sharp differences over the Boer War and the Dreyfus Affair. The medal was designed by Art Nouveaumaster Jules-Clement Chaplain (1839-1909).It was struck by the Monnaie de Paris and is edge marked AGENT1 alongwith the cornucopia mint mark.
