BRESLAU/WROCLAW WAR MONEY DATED 1917
Here you have a very rare piece of Kriegsgeld or War Money issued by the City of Breslau, Germany at the height of WW1 in the denomination of 50 Pfennigs. The issuance of small change notes became necessary due to the shortage of both precious and base metal coins during the Great War.
The nationality of Breslau changed hands between Germany and Poland many times until finally becoming a part of Poland after WW2.
Engraved in black, grey and beige with a red serial number, this is a very rare bill in any grade. It has 3 vertical folds and 2 horizontal fold and a tiny edge split but otherwise remains somewhat crisp.
