It\'s a pleasant carved Epa mask, a ceremonial mask used during the Epa masquerade to honor ritual priests, elders, women and the roles they serve in society. When not used in ceremony these masks are kept in sacred shrines and honored by the babalawos and elders in the village.This is a vintage, used piece which shows signs of age as you can see in the photos.
