This terrific bolo is being offered. It has characteristics of three of the great Zuni artists and dates to the 1940s. It\'s got strong colors in a deep turquoise, a red abalone and back jet with white mother of pearl. The details of the design are stunning. The rain bird wing feathers are classic and we\'ve seen this design with the raindrops between the feathers, too, as well as the belt for the pollen pouch are seen on the Lambert Homer Sr. piece on page 71 of Sei\'s \"Hopi Bird and Sun Face in Zuni Jewelry.\" The circle at the waist and the tail treatment however is classic Vacit family work, which we see in scores of pieces by Frank Vacit, Elizabeth Vacit, and Homer and Myra Vacit. Head and crest however are more Lee Edaakie in feel. I\'m leaning toward Lambert Homer Sr, but if it turns out to have been made by one of the others, you still have a gorgeous bolo by one of the all time great masters of Zuni jewelry. Of course it\'s unsigned and not marked for silver content which is typical of those times and it was made well before the Bennett\'s, with wires for the leather tie. The tips are fabulous old ones that were hand made, 3\" long; these are the best quality tips and highly desirable. This bird is in great vintage and collectible condition and I love him.

He measures 2-1/4\" high and 1-7/8\" wide. The stones were all hand cut and buffed and set and have a lovely sheen to them. The tie is still in good condition and doesn\'t require replacement. It measures about 37\" end to end with the tips included.

Highly collectible and a great piece, one of the nicest of its type I\'ve ever seen. For the best of collections and museum quality, this is a splendid and special bolo.
