Zuni Butterfly Pin Mosaic Inlay attr DEXTER & ROSEMARY CELLICION Early 1940s:

Welcome.

I am offering this exceptional butterfly pin that was collected in the 1950s; I don\'t know if it was new then or not. I believe it\'s a piece by Dexter and Rosemary Cellicion because I have seen a signed one by Dexter and Eva, which has the same form for the butterfly and inlay as well, but entirely different silver work, very simple silver work in comparison to this, which is elaborate. The stamp work is absolutely stellar! This is a bigger piece, too, but I believe the butterfly is made by Dexter. Rosemary was his first wife and Eva his third and this silver work and also the choice of stones, is much earlier than the other example I\'ve seen. The stones on this piece are all natural stones and they are in excellent vintage condition. There is serpentine with white swirls inside it, a beautiful form of cowry shell, with brown swirls inside the white, mother of pearl, coral, turquoise and jet. The stamp work and stamps on the raindrops are truly extraordinary and certainly CG Wallace period work. This is a great pin and it\'s very large and heavy.

An author of one of the books on Zuni jewelry remarks that Dexter is one of the great masters in Zuni jewelry history. He lived from 1931-1999. I believe this piece was made late 1940\'s to 1950\'s.

The height of this pin is 2-5/8\" and width 2-1/4\". The locking pin mechanism works fine. You can see some bends in the pin, which can be straightened and it looks like a piece of wire on the pin was used as a repair. Well, it\'s fine. I\'ve worn it for years just as it is and you will love it as I do. It\'s a favorite of mine, directly from my personal collection. It\'s a striking and beautiful butterfly, highly collectible. I will miss him and you will love him!

Yes, I sometimes can take reasonable offers.

I generally ship same day. First item shipping in the US costs $5.99 Priority or $3.99 First Class or FedEx overnight $20. You may add an additional item for three days at no additional shipping charge. Three or more items: free shipping entirely if purchased in one shopping cart basket. Tracking is included in that cost, and Signature Confirmation is included on items $730 or more, total. I default to Priority so if you prefer First Class, tell me so I can invoice accordingly. International buyers pay actual shipping cost and are responsible for any customs fees their own countries may apply. I generally use Express International, which is tracked and insured, but can always consider Priority Mail International. if that is your preference. It\'s less expensive but not insured. We can discuss it prior to purchase.

Returns will be accepted for 30 days after your receipt for any reason and without question. Please let me know if you would like to return something. Returns must be in the same condition they were shipped. If I make a significant mistake in a listing I\'ll always give you a full refund. The 20% restocking fee does not apply when the mistake is mine. I care that you\'re happy and about my accuracy, and will always stand behind my work.

Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so in addition to counterchecking, I have developed some expertise over the years and I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.

I am sorry to say I can no longer recommend ATADA nor buying from their members with perhaps one exception, and retract my previous endorsement of the group.

I request payment by PayPal in three days, but planned in advance of purchase, alternate payment methods and time payments can be arranged.

Everything I sell comes from my personal collection or is something that I would include in my personal collection. Most pieces are museum worthy and gallery suitable, sold to you at great pricing. I vet every item carefully for quality and condition, and offer you the best. I want you to be able to rely on me for top quality, superb items that are often unique and rare examples of old antique vintage southwest, indian, native american and fine gold and gemstones, whether you\'re starting a collection or adding to one, or want something great to wear or gift. My goal is that all my buyers are delighted, that my special pieces find the right homes.
