Zuni MARY KALLESTEWA MultiStone Mosaic Inlay Pin Knifewing Lavender Bisbee RARE:
$695.00

Welcome!

You\'ll want to bounce this one on your knee. Oh, Baby! It\'s a beaut!

This top quality knifewing pin by Mary Kallestewa has a personality you\'ll adore. The stones are just a little different in that the turquoise has a gorgeous golden matrix and maybe a little pyrite, and that gives it a rough look but this is not a rough pin. The mosaic inlay is immaculate. The orange spiny oyster shell has some waves of white and that is so enchanting.  Everything about him is superb. There is black jet and mother of pearl and it\'s used just right between the spondylus and turquoise. The natural turquoise appears to be lavender Busbee, which is very rare, no longer mined, and very valuable. The masterful silver work includes flattened twisted wire and stamped raindrops and wire spiral earrings. The setting is a fine serrated bezel setting for each section. I especially like the ceremonial strap across his chest and the all turquoise hat. This is one of the most endearing rainbowman pins I\'ve owned. When you see it in person you will be surprised. It\'s better than the pictures. He\'s in perfect vintage condition and he has a solid feel. Take a look at something similar from Sei\'s book \"Rainbow Man and knifewing in Zuni Jewelry\" in the last picture above.

Dating 1930s, the dimensions are 1-3/4\"H x 1-5/8\"W, the weight is 11.1 grams. There is a working rollover locking clasp. It\'s unsigned and not marked for metal content as is usual for those times but in my opinion it\'s unmistakably Mary Kallestewa, and you can compare it to the picture in the book I included above, to decide for yourself. I have snagged a similar piece of hers of the same vintage and I\'m offering it separately, but I wear them as a pair. These are both museum quality rare prizes. Take a look at the other Mary Kallestewa pins in my store and consider buying as many as you can. You won\'t be sorry. They are each breathtaking. Each is different and each is superb. I know this fellow will worm his way into your heart as he did mine.

Attributions on many of the old pieces of Native American jewelry are sometimes a moving target. All the books have errors, so I countercheck without relying on just one source, when possible. I do care about getting it right, so as more information comes to light I update my listings and also get in touch with my previous buyers, to inform them of any changes in attributions. I am sincerely committed to ongoing accuracy.

I request payment by PayPal in three days, but planned in advance of purchase alternate payment methods and time payments can be arranged.

International buyers pay actual shipping cost and are responsible for any customs fees their own countries may apply.

Everything I sell comes from my personal collection or is something that I would include in my personal collection. Most pieces are museum worthy and gallery suitable, sold to you at great pricing. I vet every item carefully for quality and condition, and offer you only the best. I want you to be able to rely on me for top quality, superb items that are often unique and rare examples of old antique vintage southwest, indian, native american and fine gold and gemstones, whether you\'re starting a collection or adding to one, or want something great to wear. My goal is that all my buyers are delighted, that my special pieces find the right homes.
