ANTIQUE \"PERFECSCOPE\"
w/ Mahogany case& 50 photo cards
This highlycollectible antique stereoscope was recently donated to our charity. This is \"The Perfecscope\" by the H.C. White Company, USA Trademark Oct 15, 1890. A brass fitting on the viewer also bears a patent date Jul 24, 1883. The top of the viewer has an emblem for the 1900 Paris Exhibition Universelle Internationale.
Fifty stereo-view cards come with the package, 46 of which were produced by the Keystone View Company, Meadeville, PA, mostly between 1890 and 1900. They depict landmarks from all over the world ... Paris, London, Rome, India, Japan, Washington, New York, etc.
The wooden case appears to be solid mahogany and was specifically built for a stereo-viewer. It has partitioned compartments for the viewer as well as the photo cards, 50 of which fit very nicely.
This is a rare and very desirable collectible that also remains very functional, even after 120 years!
Measurements: The photo cards are 7\" x 3.25\". The wooden case is 14\" x 6.5\" x 5\".
Condition:Antique.The viewer itself is in good condition considering its age. It still works just great. Some of the velvet edging is missing around the nose bridge and a metal tab on the card holder has broken off. But it still works fine. The metal parts show a bit of corrosion in places. The lenses are clean and clear. The wooden case is beginning to fail at a couple of corners, but also is in generally good condtion overall. The fabric inside the lid has quite a few tears. The photocards range in condition from fair to good. Some cards are pretty rough. Corners are worn on most cards, with some tears. Please see the photos for details.
