Description:

An early 19th Century Georgian period solid silver vinaigrette with hinged lid and internal gilt washed pierced grille, made by Joseph Willmore.

The box is of rectangular form, with very fine engine turned crosshatched decoration to both lid and base, around a vacant rectangular cartoucheto the lid, and ornate floral border. The gilt washed grille has been exquisitely engraved and pierced with an urn containing flowers and long flowing leaves. A loop to the end of the box allows the vinaigrette to be attached to a watch chain, or to be worn as a pendant.

The inside of the lid and box is clearly hallmarked as follows:

Condition:

In good antique condition, without damage or restoration, with good clear hallmarks, but with wear to the gold gilt wash to the inside of the box, not to the grille. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
