This is a great find. An amazing large c1840 American mahogany portrait frame. The beautiful 4\" wide, mahogany veneer with the a great dry, crackled surface. Frame is in the typical mid century form with beaded outer edge, flat top and canted site line. Overall condition is outstanding with cap molded, mitered construction and measures 32 1/4 x 36 1/4 with a 25 3/8 x 29 3/8 rabbet. This is a thick, solid, heavy period American portrait frame.
