LATE c1860\'s TO 1870s JAPANESE CDV ALBUMEN PHOTOGRAPH OF SCENE ATBOAT CANAL SCENE ENTITLED \"NEW CANAL\" - JAPAN
This circa late 1860\'s to 1870\'s CDV albumen photograph is identified as having been taken of the \"NEW CANAL\" - JAPAN. Shows dirt towpathsalong incline leading from a higher canal body of water to the lower canal thatwould carry the canal boat on a slide rail / track to the lower body of water comprising the canal. Anumber of buildings and fencing can be seen at the top right of the hill near the canal. A bridge can also be seen crossing the canaloperation.
Square cornered mounts.
A good scene of Japanese canal engineering in a small town in Japan.
Image has generally very good SEPIA TONES and no foxing or staining.
Back shows that card had once been mounted back to back in a fold-out CDV album.Wear is consistent with age and use. Some stains to mount in left upper and lowermount edges. Some minorvertical buckling in left side of image only seen in raking light. Please see all photos as they are part of the description.
Image measures 3 5/16\" x 2 1/8\" in size and mount measures2 7/16\" x 4\" in size. Shipped in hard plastic Top Loader sleeve.
