c1940 Royal Doulton Art Deco Under the Greenwood Tree Seriesware Octagonal Dish:

You are invited to offer on a lovely Royal Doulton Under the Greenwood Tree Seriesware Dish. The dish is octagonal in shape with nice sloping sides and a dark green painted rim. Thescene in the centre of the dish is described in Loiuse Irvine\'s book as scene 12 \' Friar Tuck makes merry under the greenwood tree \' or simply \' Under the greenwood tree \'. A nice decorative item !

Condition:The dish is in excellent used/ pre-owned condition and I can see no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines or glaze crazing and the green painted rim is also in good order and it rings beautifully when lightly tapped.

Backstamp:On the underside of the base is the special Greenwood Tree backstamp with the Royal Doulton printed lion backstamp to the right of it. Impressed into one corner are the numbers 2-40 which help indicate a date of manufacture of February 1940.

The dish is @22 cms (@8.6 inches) square in diameter and @5 cms (@2 inches) deep. Iestimate the parcel will weigh @1200g when packed.
