I have gathered them over the last 2 years from deceased estate sales all around the country. Most of the American figural napkin rings were made c1860-1899, and I believe a lot of them found there way to Australia in the gold-rush period in Australia in the 1870/1890\'s.I havelisted them nowas they have accumulated over the last 2 years while I have been engaged in a big supreme court action.
This is a lovely rare antique American figuralnapkin ringc1880 which has a large lily pad base elevated by a circular baseunderneath, with a lovely lily flower emerging from a twisetd stem thatacts like a handle. The ring (napkin holder) is beautifully engraved.The detail is excellent. It is marked Meriden B Company 168. It is shown in the book by Gottschalk andWhitson, in plate 495 on page 203. They valued it at $200 in 1996, 17years ago. This figural napkin ring is in excellent.Ihave not polished it or washed it, Just how it came in. The silverplateis all good, just tarnish. There is no damage, norepairs, no missing or brokenbits, and no pitting.
