Depicts a Doctor - The Anatomist - contemplating a female corpse. Skulls and bones in background and a scapula on the table. Signed by Dr. John Brodnax of Richmond Virginia. Also features handwritten inscription to Mrs Marie Marles (?). There is a slight water stain on the very edge of the mat area and a blemish on the mat area on the left side of the picture. Please see pictures for clarification. Framed picture measures 15\" by 18\".
