She was the founder of Chanel brand and the iconic Chanel style. Her first shopopened in Paris in 1910.
Throughout her life she had succession of wealthy lovers including Arthur Capeland the Duke of Westminster. Winston Churchill was an acquaintance. Shealways cultivated men in high places of society and government.
Chanel has 10 film and television costume designer credits includingTonight or Never (1931), The Greeks Had a Word for Them (1932),The Rules of the Game (1939).
There have been four film biographies based on her life, as well as anew series on Apple TV, The New Look, which details of her private life.
The Victoria and Albert Museum recently had a blockbuster exhibition of her couture.
