The 11thcentury was fateful for the city of Toledo

Overfour centuries, from 712 to 1085, the Arabians ruled over Toledo. Under theirrule, Toledo flourished in art and science, in the silk and cotton industry aswell as in its fabrication of arms. Toledo’s damascene blades and inlays madeby the gold – and silversmiths of the city went by the name Toledo and carriedits unique tecnique into the world. In 1085 Alfons VI of Castilia conquered thecity and appointed Toledo as his royal residence in 1087. In memory of thisvery historical 11th century, Pelika decided to restrict the LE Toledo 1931 to1100 pieces worldwide.

Theoriginal Toledo, dating back to 1931, was a true rarity even in its own timeand already then iit was simply outstanding. With its elaborate processing andits extraordinary look, it soon became the center-piece of many valuablecollections.

2003limited-edition renaissance is no different.

As thefinal highlight and crowning of the OoTT series, in 2003 Pelikan presented the OoTT Toledo LE1931.

Theeye-catcher on this etraordinary fountain peni s a valuable Toledo barrel madein Toledo, Spain in the exquisite tradition of Damascene art. In meticoloushand-work, ornaments of gold are laid into the basic iron material. In twelvesteps, the wafer-thin golden patterns are processed and carefully embossed intothe iron with the finest special tools. Made exclusive by an 18-carat,individually hand-tested gold nib.

Most ofall it is distinguished by its ring which is hand-made in Toledo – the citythat gave this jewel its name.

Furthertypical characteristics are the body of black ebonite as well as the cap sleeveand cap top made of celluloid. The cap top is decorated with the engravedhistorical Pelikan logo of 1931.

TheToledo 1931 can be considered at once a writing instrument and a work of art.

Thespecimen here offered for sale comes in mint condition. It appears to have never been inked or used in any way. Alloriginal boxes, papers and packaging: Outerbox (worn), display box, satin bag, mathing booklets and all over the world for us the shipping is an important issue.
We use only high quality materials such as double wall cardboard boxes, extra large buble wrap, polypropylene packaging tape, pvc pipe with high resistance.
