Signed "Rube Goldberg" in final panel.-Description: This is the original artwork for the daily comic strip CARTOON FOLLES OF 1926 by Reuben Garret Lucious "Rube" Goldberg (1883-1970). Rube Goldberg is one of the all-time great comic strip writers and artists of the 20th century...one of the true pioneers of the humor strip. The "Rube Goldberg device" is named after his famously bizarre creations. One of his strips was the CARTOON FOLLIES OF 1926 (and 1927) which usually consisted of three separate (stand-alone) panels. Titles included The Battling Browns, Luke and His Uke, Phoney Balonies, Captain Johnny, Divide by Two and You're Nearer Right, Don't Mind Me, and Famous Trouble Makers. This trifecta features the Battling Browns (murder is afoot!), Luke and His Uke (causing pants to burn) and a Phony Baloney boss who doesn't want to give out any raises. DRI
