Spectacular museum caliber original TITLE CARD from the Woody Woodpecker short, Smoked Hams. This short was released in theatres on April 28, 1947. Any Woody Woodpecker art from the Golden Age of animation is very scarce, but Title Cards are pretty much unobtainable (only 33 Woody Woodpecker short were released in the 1940s, and that is the maximum number of 1940s title cards that could still exist). Title Card was painted by Walter Lantz and signed in the bottom right.
The title card is 12-field and comes elaborately quintuple-matted, with three cardboard mats in the red, yellow, blue Woody Woodpecker colors, surrounded by 2 extra-wide white linen mats with gold trim and a black frame to bring the dimensions to a super-sized 27.5" x 25". The mats are deeply tiered, which creates a 3-D telescoping effect: The title card is over an inch away from the archival-grade Plexiglass. You will probably never find a better piece of art from Woody Woodpecker...and if you do it will probably not be for sale.
