This Revolutionary Figure group depicts Mao riding beside Communist GeneralLin Biao in his Hongqi (Red Flag) Limousine. Mao is waving to crowds in a parade, while two soldiers drive the car in the front seat.

These colorful statues of the Cultural Revolution(1966-1976) contain images that are both astonishingly surreal and real.Some are so brutal and vivid that one might question the reality of it, manywere created directly from famous events, such as Mao's swim of the YangziRiver. Others represent everyday citizens or soldiers performing tasksrequired by the Revolution, part of the re-education campaign.

During the revolution, Mao ceased almost all productions tomake time for the study of his thoughts with the exception of the ceramiccompanies, based largely in Shiwanzhen, the center of most ceramic production,which altered production to create this porcelain army of figures for people tohave in their homes.
