An exquisite pair of vintage table lamps made of Murano blown glass and brass. Crafted in the heart of Murano, Italy, during the 1930s or 1940s, their design, materials, technique, and quality link them to the historic firm Barovier & Toso, founded in Venice in 1295.
The glass base and bell-shaped shade were handcrafted by expert Murano glassblowers, featuring exquisite ribbed detailing and scalloped edges. This glasswork allows light to diffuse softly, creating a beautiful interplay of light and shadow. The two glass sections are connected by a brass structure shaped like a flower, complete with scrolls and decorative elements; the brass retains its natural patina, which enhances both its charm and historical value. As these are handcrafted pieces, tiny air bubbles and ash particles may be visible within the glass—natural characteristics resulting from the firing and blowing processes. The lamps feature their original brass sockets, as well as the original push-button switches and electrical components.

Barovier&Toso creations are unique works, in mouth-blown "Venetian crystal" and handcrafted by master glassmakers from Murano, custodians of a centuries-old tradition that has run through history for generations. It is to Angelo Barovier who we owe the invention of a revolutionary formula that allowed us to obtain an unprecedented material, with extraordinary characteristics of extreme transparency and brilliance. It was with a decree of the Republic of Venice, around 1455, that Angelo Barovier even obtained exclusivity in the production of Venetian Crystal.

La base e il paralume a campana in vetro sono stati realizzati a mano dagli esperti soffiatori di Murano con squisiti dettagli a coste e bordi ondulati. Grazie a questa lavorazione del vetro, la luce si diffonde dolcemente creando degli splendidi giochi di luce. Le due parti in vetro sono collegate da una struttura in ottone sagomata a fiore con riccioli e decori, che è stata mantenuta con la sua patina naturale che ne amplifica il fascino ed il valore storico. Trattandosi di opere artigianali potrebbero essere presenti all'interno della pasta vitrea bollicine d'aria e particelle di cenere, dovute alle fasi di cottura e soffiatura. Portalampada originali del tempo in ottone. Anche l'interruttore a pressione e le parti elettriche sono quelle originali.
Le creazioni Barovier&Toso sono opere uniche, in "Cristallo Veneziano" soffiato a bocca e realizzate a mano da maestri vetrai di Murano, depositari di una tradizione secolare che solca la storia da generazioni. È ad Angelo Barovier che si deve l’invenzione di una rivoluzionaria formula che permise di ottenere un materiale inedito, dalle straordinarie caratteristiche di estrema trasparenza e brillantezza. Fu con decreto della Repubblica di Venezia, intorno al 1455, che Angelo Barovier ottenne addirittura l’esclusiva nella produzione del “Cristallo Veneziano”.
Un elegante esempio di artigianato Art Déco italiano adatto ad ogni tipo di ambiente, in particolar modo in camera da letto, sul comodino. Rarità sempre più difficili da trovare.
