MASSIVE! World-Class TOURMALINE CRYSTAL that is Watermelon with Green Exterior and pure Red Rubellite Interior. This specimen has been in storage for the past twenty years because our museum was unable to open. One-of-a-Kind Specimen was extracted from the Santa Rosa Mine in Minas Gerias, Brazil, SA during the year of 1967. Most time after the mine this piece was a decoration in the house of a mine employee who received it as a bonus! Nowadays anyone who views this specimen are simply stupefied because they have only seen photos in magazines for specimens of this magnitude and size! Weight is about 10 pounds 8.7 ounces and Measures about 8.5 inches x 4.5 inches x 5 inches at max margins. There are eight (2nd opinion/count is 12) small side car crystals that have been broken off most likely during extraction and the second pic past the main photo shows the most significant spot and the other ten small side car crystals tend to blend in very well with the dark green colorations of the exterior so they are not very noticeable unless looking for irregularities? Specimen displays quite easily in many positions standing up without seeing any missing side car pieces from the total of eight counted by examination. Yes this specimen is a Show Stopper! Especially if revealing the gorgeous Red Rubellite at the bottom by display laying on an angle with a prop. Truly a Museum Piece by any measure or comparison to what usually is seen offered for sale or at the local Gem and Mineral Shows. (Note, the little sister Tourmaline Crystal specimen from same time, same mine and same pocket sold about 15 years ago to an unnamed investor of New Jersey for $45K and weighed two pounds less and two inches less in size than this offering).
