In this strip, circus owner Sam Jones invites Mandrake and Lothar to travel with his circus, but a crooked ringmaster named Carlo, who secretly works for a mob boss named Spike, attempts to cause problems by releasing a gorilla from its cage. Davis produced consistently high quality work onMandrake the Magicianover the decades. His originals rarely surface, so this is an unusual opportunity for one fortunate buyer to add a Sunday strip to his or her art collection.

Note: The title logo is a paste-up. White tape along the entire back side of the top edge slightly sticking out over the edge. Top right corner has a 1" diagonal fold.

AboutMandrake the Magician
Mandrake the Magicianwas created by Lee Falk, who later createdThe Phantomcomic strip. Falk recruited artist Phil Davis, who worked on the strip for its first 30 years in syndication, from 1934 to 1964. Following Davis's death, Falk worked with artist Fred Fredericks, who took the writing when Falk passed away in 1999. The Sunday strip ran until 2002 and the daily made it all of the way to 2013.

About the Artist
Phil Davis is known as the illustrator of the popularMandrake the Magiciancomic strip with writer Lee Falk. The strip launched in 1934 and Davis drew it until he passed away in 1964 at the age of 58.
